Welcome Back!
As we usher out the long, hot days of summer, and welcome the cool, crisp days of fall, I am excited to meet our newest students, as well as see the familiar faces of our returning students. This, however, can be easier said than done.

If you or your child are having trouble getting back into the swing of things, here are a few simple tips to get back into the school routine.

First, set up a regular bed-time. As students get older, they want to stay up later and later, but research shows that 10-12 year olds still require 10 to 11 hours of sleep per night, and teens and preteens need 8-1/2 to 10 hours of sleep per night. A bed-time routine can help a child fall asleep more easily after those late summer nights.

Second, have breakfast daily. Children who eat breakfast have more energy--both physical and mental--to meet the many demands of their school day.

Third, set up a regular homework routine that works for your child. While the specific time or location of doing homework will be specific to your family needs, consistency in that time or location can go a long way in helping your child keep up with assignments. Ensure that your child has a regular supply of pens, pencils, and paper in a spot that is well lit and comfortable.

2010-2011 promises to be a great school year...if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to email or call at 741-1437.
