Thursday, September 2, 2010- Fifth Grade Student Orientation
Dear 5th Grade Parents:Although we are all in the midst of enjoying the summer, before we know it, our school year will be about to begin. Our teachers have planned an orientation program to welcome you and your child to the Pleasantville Middle School and ensure a smooth transition from the Bedford Road School. This program is designed to prepare your child for the first day of school.
Orientation for students will take place on Thursday, September 2nd. In order to allow your child to participate in a smaller orientation group we will run two separate sessions. Students whose last names begin with A – M will attend their orientation from 9:00 am to 10:15 am. Students whose last names begin with N – Z will attend their orientation from 10:45 am – 12:00 pm. Students will meet with their teachers in their respective classrooms. Parents are welcome to attend an informal reception in the multi-purpose room during their child’s orientation session. At this time Mrs. Weill and I as well as Office and Student Support Staff will be available to answer any questions that you may have.
During orientation, students will have an opportunity to buy locks for their lockers ($5.00). For security reasons, only school locks can be used on their lockers. Please make sure your child has a check or exact change for this purchase.
Be assured that you will receive your child’s schedule prior to the orientation. You can bring it with you at that time if you have any questions or concerns.
We are looking forward to meeting with you and your child; however, if you have vacation plans for that date, please feel free to call the office to schedule a tour of the building for your child at a mutually convenient time. Please be assured that the first day of school will also be a time for your child to become oriented to the Middle School.
